POLICE STATEMENT – RWIZI REGION, ISINGIRO DISTRICT,01/06/2022. The territorial Police of Isingiro district is investigating circumstances under which a Uganda People’s Defence Force-UPDF soldier RA267422 Private Omeri James Kamarendi attached to 29 Batalion,guarding the Chairman LC1 of Kitooha cell Kahenda Parish Bireere sub county Isingiro district commonly known as Madam Generous shot and killed his colleague RA267313 Private Bwire Laurence,29,also attached to the 29 Batalion in the night of 31/05/2022 around 02:00/c.
According to preliminary investigations,it’s alleged that the two officers have had a long standing conflict over the housemaid working for Madam Generous which is suspected to have sparked off the fight leading into a shootout where one of them died.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
The two rifles and cartridges have also been recovered and exhibited.
Rwizi region police spokesperson,ASP Samson Kasasira confirmed that police is working together with the UPDF to arrest the suspect that is still at large.
