A Ugandan Pentecostal Bishop, Siribaleka Aaron who is the Chief Director of the Youth Vulnerable Children and Orphans Alliance Africa in Kampala, has been arraigned at the Mbale Chief Magistrates Court and remanded to prison on charges including obtaining money by false pretense.
Siribaleka is accused of defrauding pastors, parents, and prospective businessmen of over UGX 390 million between 2018 and 2019.
According to the prosecution, the accused used his position and the reputation of his organization to lure unsuspecting victims, primarily through Child Development Centres (CDCs), with false promises of education grants, scholarships, job placements after training, and capital for their businesses.
The victims, believing in the credibility of Siribaleka and his organization, reportedly handed over large sums of money in anticipation of the promised benefits.
However, these promises never materialized, leaving the victims in financial distress and despair.
The case is being closely monitored and coordinated by the Anti-Corruption Unit of State House in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The authorities emphasized their commitment to ensuring that justice is served and that such fraudulent activities are thoroughly investigated and prosecuted.
Siribaleka Aaron was today September 4, 2024 remanded to prison until September 25, 2024, when he is expected to reappear in court.
