
The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has finally named the victims and survivors of single fatal accident that involved Motor vehicle registration number CGO 9777AB /07 Toyota, that occurred on 27th August 2024 at Kagano village in Muhindura Parish in Kanaba sub county along Kisoro–Kabale Road in Kisoro District.
Maate says the deceased persons are Katembo Kisinziro, a resident of Butembo in Democratic Republic of Congo and 31 year old Ms Masika Tseda Wivine, a resident of Goma also in Democratic Republic of Congo.
Maate adds that the survivors include 36 year old Kahindo Esperance Kirumbiri a resident of Butembo, Kahambo Kimwana Imerida a resident of Goma, Baluku Rusasa Felix and Kambale Rusasa both sons of Masika the deceased and Muhindo Kigoma Ibraim a resident of Beni in Democratic Republic of Congo.

Maate however, explained that the particulars of the driver are yet to be established since he is on the run, and efforts to have him arrested are ongoing.
The motor vehicle was from Butembo in Democratic Republic of Congo carrying 7 passengers and it approached Kasheregenyi Trading Centre at a high speed before the driver failed to negotiate the corner, and it overturned several times into a valley about 150 metres away from the road where the two people died on spot.

The accident has been attributed to overspeeding and reckless driving in corners, with the case now registered at Kisoro District Central Police Station under reference number TAR 65/2024.
The scene was visited by Kisoro District Traffic Police Officer Kushaba Micheal and the team of officers who rushed the victims to Kisoro General Hospital and Mutolere Mission Hospital, and the bodies taken to Kisoro Hospital Mortuary as they try to identify the victims.
