The flying squad department of police have arrested a local & famous herbalist in connection to the murder of the National Resistance Movement-NRM district registrar for Bundibugyo, Aguma Robert Kifunga who was also a prominent lawyer.

The arrested, Bwambale Sunday Swaib was a close friend to the deceased, who allegedly worked with others (still at large) to plan and lure Aguma into a gold deal, stole his ugx42 million before ghastly murdering him.

As investigations continue, Rise News Uganda can authoritatively report that there are other “prominent” people who are suspects though still at large.

Background.

On Saturday, 26th March 2022, police in Rwenzori West started hunting for suspected assailants that had murdered Aguma whose body was found lying near Bimala river along Gabata-mpumpai cell footpath in Bundibugyo town council, near Kudos Guest House.

The Rwenzori West Police spokesperson, Vincent Twesige, confirmed that the body was found lying facing up and barefoot and the case was reported to police by Godfrey Bisimo, the Bimala LC 1 chairperson who received information about the body, at around 9am.

It should be noted that the murder of Kifunga came a few months after the murder of Ntoroko district NRM chairperson, Japheth Kabagambe, incidents that have created fear among NRM leaders in the area, saying assailants could be targeting them over a yet to be known matter. We’ll keep following the matter closely.
