The National Environment Management Authority-NEMA southwestern Uganda office together with Rwampara district Local Government have started a 2-week wetland restoration programme.

This programme or operation kicked off today, November 6, 2023 in Ndeija sub-county Rwampara district before being extended to other hotspots where encroachers are being evicted.

This programme or operation kicked off today, November 6, 2023 in Ndeija sub-county Rwampara district before being extended to other hotspots where encroachers are being evicted.
The operation started with Kashasha wetland that connects Bugamba and Ndeija sub counties, and activities will stretch to the wetlands of Kongoro, Nyakaikara, Kibuba, Kigarama and others.
Ms. Sarah Ayijuka, the NEMA southwestern region manager has also decried cheap politics, corruption and other challenges that frustrate environmental conservation and restoration plans.









CLIMATE CHANGE: Experts continue to call for enough resource allocation and deployment of renewable energy, sensitization and other interventions to mitigate climate change. Growing concerns indicate that policy complications and other grassroot challenges continue to frustrate renewable energy deployment and other climate actions.
