Human rights defenders/organizations, politicians and other concerned stakeholders continue to decry human rights violation by Ugandan security forces including police and the military, accused of participating in torture, unlawful arrests and other atrocities.

Militarization of police remains a big question in Uganda. A study by Network of Public Interest Lawyers-NETPIL led by Makerere University’s lecturer Dr. Sylvie Namwase has revealed that the army has taken lock, stock, and barrel of the police force.
