The family of late Kezekia Katukura led by Jane Rushegyera have petitioned President Yoweri Museveni and Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo to intervene and resolve a land wrangle, where Kyambogo University Vice Chancellor-VC Prof Elly Katunguka illegally bought part of their land in Bushenyi.
The aggrieved who include the children and grandchildren of the late have now accused Prof Katunguka for conniving with his wife, Justice Ketra Katunguka to frustrate their efforts to get justice.
On 21st April 2023, the family members led by Jane who is the daughter of the late Kezekia said Katunguka and his wife bought land that has a caveat and this matter has been in court for 20 years, and Justice Ketra has reportedly been frustrating their land case in Mbarara high court because she’s a judiciary staff.
BACKGROUND: Their stepmother identified as Kyomukundi Ephrance sold most of the properties that Mzee Kezekia left – without authority and disregarding the caveat and court case.
The family members also called upon Lands Minister Judith Nabakoba to intervene and save the poor who are being mistreated and living at the mercy of the rich.
Justice Ketra and Prof. Katunguka have not responded to the matter, by press time.
