Police in Kabale municipality western Uganda have arrested a 49-year-old man identified as Nkuruziza Etienne, a resident of Kigongi B cell central ward central division for allegedly defiling and impregnating a Primary Seven (p.7) pupil.
The suspect, who is a neighbor to the girl’s residence is alleged to have defiled her between the month of August and September 2022 in the evening hours when she had gone to watch a film from his place of residence.
The pregnancy was detected during 1st term 2023 medical check-ups at Bugongi preparatory primary school in Sheema town council Sheema district where she had reported back to school as 1st term started.
When the school administration discovered it, it immediately notified her parents and the girl was picked and taken back to Kabale where the case was reported and is being handled.
Quest for justice. The Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate confirmed that inquiries are ongoing and upon completion, the perpetrator will be arraigned. The victim’s parents have cried out to all authorities to expeditiously handle the matter and she gets justice.
