Members of the Passion Focus Uganda LTD have vowed to camp at Office of the Prime Minister-OPM and continue demonstrating over Ugx688 million that the National Agriculture Advisory Services (NAADS) owes them.
In 2016, Gen. Salim Saleh who’s the Operation Wealth Creation-OWC chief coordinator gave them a project/Enterprise of Passion Fruits in Southwestern Uganda, and they mobilized farmers, did trainings, seedlings production and later supplied them under the instructions of NAADS Secretariat.
According to Mr. Medard Bukambiza the Director Operations/Company Secretary for the Passion Focus Uganda Ltd, they had two invoices that NAADS had refused to clear but when the State House Anti-corruption unit was involved in 2019, Col Edith Nakalema – the then head of anti-corruption unit forced NAADS to pay, and it only cleared the Ugx161 million invoice leaving the one of 688 million not cleared.
Passion Focus Uganda LTD members have now mobilized to camp at Office of the Prime Minister-OPM in Kampala on Friday, November 25, 2022 and continue with peaceful demonstrations until they are paid.
In March 2022, the aggrieved members petitioned President Museveni who issued a directive to the Prime Minister on 2nd April 2022 to ensure that NAADS clears them, but she never bothered until July 2022 when they petitioned the President again. The second directive was issued by the President on 18th August 2022, but up to now nothing is done and they claim she has been compromised by NAADS Secretariat or is just ignoring their matter with reasons known to her.
They say their payment is being hindered by some bad elements and corrupt officials in the system.
