Police in Rwenzori West are hunting for suspected assailants that have murdered the Bundibugyo district National Resistance Movement-NRM registrar Robert Aguma Kifunga, who is also a prominent lawyer.
Aguma’s body was on Saturday morning 26/3/2022 found lying near Bimala river along Gabata-mpumpai cell footpath in Bundibugyo town council, near Kudos Guest House.
The Rwenzori West Police spokesperson, Vincent Twesige, says the body was found lying facing up and barefoot.
The case was reported to police by Godfrey Bisimo, the Bimala LC 1 chairperson after he received information about the body, at around 9am.
Kifunga’s body is still at Bundibugyo hospital (by press time) awaiting transportation to Fort Portal Regional referral hospital for postmortem.
It should be noted that the murder of Kifunga is coming a few months after the murder of Ntoroko district NRM chairperson, Japheth Kabagambe, scenarios that have created fear among NRM leaders in the area, saying assailants could be targeting them over a yet to be known matter.
