The Member of Parliament representing Buyaga West County in Kagadi district,Denis Namara is currently facing sharp criticism for introducing a controversial legislative proposal to alter how the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Parliament is selected following his June 24, 2026 notice of motion seeking leave to table the Administration of Parliament (Amendment) Bill, 2026. He previously served two terms in East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) in Arusha Tanzania from 2017 to 2026 and chaired its Budget Committee 2020–2022.
Dirty background and his dirty archives. In 2015, the Youth in Kibaale district waged a war on him as National Youth chairperson for NRM Youth League, calling for an investigation into his sources of money used to construct a storied residential mansion.
This followed what had been termed as betrayal after Namara turned against Presidential Aspirant Amama Mbabazi and started asking police and other security organizations to probe all sources of Mbabazi’s funds.
“Namara is a fortune seeker and traitor , he was introduced to NRM and mentored by Mbabazi but he has betrayed him”, several youth castigated Namara.
“Mbabazi even sponsored Namara’s posh wedding party in 2014.
The party was attended by president Museveni, Mbabazi and his wife Jacqueline Mbabazi. Mbabazi even gave Namara assistance,” more youths attacked Namara.
Is Namara a self-seeker? Insider sources have now indicated that Namara is just seeking relevance and attention of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba,who heads the Patriotic League of Uganda-PLU where Namara subscribes.
His introduction of the controversial legislative proposal to alter how the Leader of Opposition (LoP) is selected, as he is seeking leave to table the Administration of Parliament (Amendment) Bill 2026 comes at a time when Muhoozi is implicated in several cases of human rights violation,state and political persecution.
