Health authorities in Mbarara city have swiftly taken action to mitigate the spread of measles after five suspected cases were reported in Nyamityobora central cell in Nyamityobora ward Mbarara city North division.
The affected people including children and adults are getting treatment in different local health facilities around the city.
Mbarara City Health Officer, Dr.Mugisha Keirukye on April 18, 2023 confirmed that the samples from the five suspected cases have been taken to Kampala for testing.
Local leaders have now appealed to the government to improve bring more testing and treatment facilities to avoid unmanageable spread of such epidemics since too much time is usually taken before confirming such outbreaks.
