The Mbarara City North Member of Parliament-MP, Hon Robert Mwesigwa Rukaari who doubles as National Resistance Movement-NRM party National Executive Committee-CEC member and Entrepreneurs League chairman is in trouble, as several money lenders tighten their belts in several moves to compel him pay the huge sums of money he owes them.
Two money lenders were given December 20 and December 31, 2022 respectively to have their money paid, or have Hon Rukaari arrested after he failed to honor his promise of paying Ugx992 million to city businessman Gerald Kalungi which he obtained and set a payment deadline of December 20,2022.
“Whereas Mwesigwa Robert (judgment debtor) was adjusted by consent, October 5,2021, to pay a sum of Ugx992,000,000, the amount has not been paid to the plaintiff,” reads part of the consent judgment entered in 2021.
It further reads; these are to command you to arrest the said judgment-debtor and unless the said debtor shall pay you the sum of Ugx992 million as cost of executing this process to bring the said debtor before court with all convenient speed. You are therefore commanded to return this warrant on or before the 20th day of December 2022 with an endorsement certifying the day on which and manner in which it has been executed. This serves to direct every officer of the Uganda Police Force to ensure that the arrest is done in a peaceful and lawful manner given under my hand this 17th day of November 2022.
In another case, Hilary Twesiga and Tom Byakatonda accuse American Procurement Co. (AMPROC INC) and Rukaari who is the Chairman, of delayed payment of Ugx700 million debt – as per the obligation under the commitment agreement entered January 19,2017.
Deep throat sources have it clear that MP Rukaari is having sleepless nights since these are few of the many strong money lenders he owes.
More scandals; the legislator has previously been accused of Ugx10,225,710,000 scandal – the money that he allegedly misappropriated yet it was meant to compensate some families for their land in Isingiro, and illegally acquiring Uganda Railways Corporation-URC plots of land in Kampala. By press time, Hon Rukaari hadn’t commented on the matter. Additional reporting – multiple sources.
