INSIDE STORY.  An American principal of Heritage International School, Dr. Kymmberli Stowe who has been at loggerheads with school’s management, was denied entry into Uganda on the 30th of December as she returned from China.

She had travelled to China under an arranged departure by the heritage school management, which terminated her contract on which her visa and work permit were premised.
Simon Peter Mundeyi, the spokesperson of Immigrations, said that Stowe was never deported and wasn’t aware of her denial to return to the country to pursue her justice. DETAILED STORY (Video – NTV UGANDA). https://youtu.be/r0WTbSTzmdQ?si=SOjfJUXzxrj8YMxh
MORE SCANDALS & BACKGROUND STORIES. Dr. Kymmberli who took over as principal in May 2025, filed a complaint with the Commissioner of Labour challenging her October suspension and subsequent termination. Stowe claims her removal was a retaliatory move after she raised internal concerns regarding school governance.

According to the petition dated October 27, 2025, Stowe alleges she was suspended Oct. 18 via a WhatsApp message from Head of School Alan Corfield. The message reportedly stated she was being placed on paid leave pending an investigation into her academic credentials.

Stowe contends the school bypassed legal procedures required by the Employment Act, failing to provide a formal inquiry or an opportunity for her to respond to the allegations before her access to school systems was revoked.

On Oct. 25, an internal staff email announced Stowe’s immediate termination at the end of her probationary period. Stowe disputes the dismissal, asserting her qualifications are valid and that she never received a formal termination letter.

The dispute extends beyond labor protocols. In her filings, Stowe alleges a pattern of discriminatory practices, including:

  • Hiring bias: Stowe claims Human Resource Manager Tiffany Stevenson instructed her to reject a qualified Ugandan candidate for a teaching role in favor of a less qualified expatriate.
  • Derogatory language: The petition alleges the school’s athletic director used slurs when referring to African staff members.
  • Safeguarding concerns: Stowe reported allegations involving the head of school and a minor to the Ministry of Education and Sports, claiming the school board failed to conduct an independent investigation.

Stowe also involved the National Citizenship and Immigration Control and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). Her legal team, Soita & Co. Advocates, alleged that the school failed to remit statutory NSSF contributions.

The Commissioner of Labour intervened, summoning school officials and Stowe to a mediation meeting scheduled for Dec. 18 at the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development. By press time, our efforts to get a comment from Heritage International School about this escalating scandal went futile as they didn’t respond to our calls.
