Authorities in Mbarara city and Mbarara district have been asked to investigate illegal money lenders that are conniving with court to terrorize people and stealing millions of shillings from the victims.
One of the accused illegal money lenders has been identified as Baturine Jamson, a science teacher at St. Andrew’s S.S Rubindi in Mbarara district, who is also People’s Front for Freedom-PFF opposition party mobilizer in Mbarara area.
“Jamson is also being accused by fellow teachers for harassing them and stealing their money through illegal money lending and exorbitant interest”, one of the victims.
“He connives with bailiffs and his friends at Mbarara court. Even when you pay his money, he still demands almost double of the money you borrowed”, another victim.
The victims now want authorities to swing into action and arrest Jamson and his network terrorizing the business community.
Jamson, who was not available for a comment by press time, allegedly threatens to arrest whoever refuses to pay the exorbitant interest.
Mbarara Resident City Commissioner-RCC, Ms Catherine Hellen Kamwine recently vowed to arrest all illegal money lenders who are terrorizing the business community.
“I can assure you these guys will be arrested. The cases are being compiled”, a security source disclosed.
